•Worried Kian and Jodi in hospital dash
Worried Kian and Jodi in hospital dash after father falls ill

By MF

Thursday September 04 2008

Westlife star Kian Egan (28) has made a mercy dash to be at his father Kevin's bedside after he was admitted to a Dublin hospital.

The worried singer sparked speculation that all was not well after he was seen this week visiting someone in Beaumont Hospital with his fiancee Jodi Albert (25), the Diary can reveal.

Although details about the nature of his father's illness are still vague, the young star is clearly concerned for his dad's condition as he has cancelled most work commitments for the rest of the week.

Mr Egan senior was rushed to the Dublin hospital from his home in Sligo on Monday evening and has remained there having a series of tests carried out in one of the specialist wings of Beaumont.

The blonde singer was spotted relaxing in the VIP area at the Electric Picnic last weekend before rushing back up to Dublin at the start of the week.

It was initially thought this was to oversee the next round of auditions for the Irish girlband he's setting up with Louis Walsh, but it has now emerged that visiting his father was his main priority.

"All I know is his dad was brought in for tests on Monday evening and Kian happened to be in Dublin at the same time," said his spokesperson.

"I just got a text saying that he was going to be out of circulation because his dad was in hospital. He said nothing more about the nature of the illness."

Hailing from a large family with three brothers and three sisters, Kian has always stayed close to his parents Kevin and Patricia, even preferring to stay living in Sligo rather than moving down to Dublin.

Meanwhile, it's full steam ahead for his €1m nuptial celebrations to Jodi after the pair found the perfect location for the dream wedding after weeks of looking for the ideal place to swap vows.

"I can't wait to be Jodi's husband, for her to be my wife and to have children and an amazing family life together," said Kian. "Jodi is incredible, there will never be anyone else."

Although the couple are naturally keeping the wedding venue under wraps, Jodi had said they want the occasion to be completely unique.

"The wedding reflects exactly who me and Kian are as a couple. It's our vibe. It's brilliant and I can't wait for it. It's come around so fast," she said.

•Irish Charm is back!!!
Well, yes it IS back. After the time I spent away from the site, I realized I actually missed it. Plus I got my wireless running so everything's going to be easier. Not to mention I received support from some real good friends. So I'm trying to relaunch the site...upload all the photos and videos I missed. First step as you can see is the layout. I figured a new look would be really needed. I hope you like it. For now I'm going to look around and ask for permission for pictures and other stuff, so stay tuned.
Welcome to the new Irish Charm, everyone!

Next up, we're getting literary. The boys have an autobiography coming out on 16th June - and we want to know which member's sensational stories you're most looking forward to reading! Head to the poll on the homepage or click here to have your say.

•I Bet I Have More Westlife Gear Than Party Girl Does!
I Bet I Have More Westlife Gear Than Party Girl Does!

EDITOR - Why is it you get someone like me who has supported Westlife since day one, bought all their singles, albums, dvd's, memorabilia etc been to their concerts numerous times...and could not for the life of me meet the lads or even get their autograph!!!

Then along comes someone with a bit of money, and bam...my lovely Westlife sing for them at a party!

I wonder if the party girl has supported the guys profoundly and has the amount of Westlife gear I have, then maybe I can say she deserved this present! I used to sit in my house in Louth and daydream Westlife...thinking they would never come to a place like Louth! Gutted....life eh?! Very jealous!

fter fourteen UK No.1 singles and more than 36 million records sold worldwide, the biggest selling pop act of the last 10 years, WESTLIFE, will perform in concert in New Zealand for the very first time.

The all-boy band, who has dominated the charts since 1999 when they released Flying Without Wings, will appear in Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and New Plymouth in May.

Westlife is a cultural phenomenon and after a decade of hits, they are still at the top of their game and continue to surprise and astound in equal measure. No modern band can compare to Westlife’s extraordinary success. In their 10 years aboard the pop express they have sold over 36 million records globally and been awarded 28 platinum discs. In the UK alone they have scored eight multi-platinum albums and a record breaking 14 number one hits (behind only Elvis and The Beatles). The band has also picked up innumerable awards and appeared on hundreds of magazine covers around the world. They are the only recording artists to win the prestigious ‘Record Of The Year’ a staggering four times (other top awards include two BRITS and an MTV Europe Award).
As well as all their hits including Seasons in the Sun and Swear It again, they will feature songs from their latest album "Back Home" when they perform in four fabulous New Zealand venues.

As a special gift to their New Zealand fans in celebration of their debut tour, Westlife will be releasing a NZ only edition of their "best of" album featuring all their greatest hits.
